Vietnam also fell victim against the Gilas Pilipinas in their game at the Araneta Coliseum for the 2017 Southeast Asian Basketball Associations Championships.
During the game last May 17 at Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Gilas Pilipinas won against the Vietnamese five with a score of 107-52.
Gilas started their domination early by immediately leading by 12 points in the first quarter of the game and was able to widen the score gap up to 24 points before the start of the 2nd half.
The Philippine team was led by Matthew Wright who gave 19 points, and 2 rebounds.
Calvin Abueva and Raymond Almazan also contributed 16 points each for Gilas victory.
This is the host country’s fifth victory following their wins against Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Gilas is scheduled to face next the undefeated team of Indonesia this May 18 at Araneta Coliseum.
The winner of the said game will be the lone qualifier for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup that will happen this August.
