Gilas Pilipinas gears up for FIBA Olympics

Gilas Pilipinas has gone to Europe for an 18-day training camp last Friday, June 10.

The team won over Iran by 81-70 in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Manila on June 8 and will be training for the FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament, which will be held on July 5 in Manila.

The Gilas Pilipinas consisting of Jayson Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo, Troy Rosario, Ryan Reyes, Gabe Norwoord, Jeff Chan, June Mar Fajardo, Marc Pingris, Calvin Abueva, Japeth Aguilar, LA tenorio, Ray Parks, Andray Blatche, and Terrence Romeo with their head coach Tab Baldwin to familiarize with the dynamics of the team.

The Philippine team is in Kapernisi, Greece. They will be heading to Istanbul, Turkey for a tune-up game against the national team of Turkey.

Before the team finishes its 18 day training camp, they will be competing in the four-nation pocket tournament against the host nation, Canada, and China in Bolonga, Italy.

The team is scheduled to return to Manila on June 28, before their game against France in FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament.
