The Philippine National Men’s Basketball team, also known as Gilas Pilipinas, failed to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Philippine Arena, Bulacan.
On June 11, Gilas tasted their second defeat in the tournament after lossing to Canada, 20-19.
Roger Pogoy led the Philippine Squad by scoring 10 points, including the six straight points that gave Gilas a two-point lead, 16-18, in the final minute of the game.
Michael Linklater finished with nine points, and delivered the game-winning shot for Canada, which led by seven-points, 11-4, at most.
Christian Standhardinger also contributed four points to home-team, while Stanley Pringle and Troy Rosario combined for a total of five points.
However, the Philippine team ended their campaign in the tournament with a victory after dominating Russia, 19-12, during their second game for the day.
Stanley Pringle delivered nine points, while Troy Rosario provided eight points for the second win of the host team, which led by 11 points, 14-3, at most.
Meanwhile, Canada, who won all their four games in the preliminary round, and Mongolia, who registered a 3-1 win-loss record, will be moving to the quarterfinals after topping Pool C.
