Former Bayan Muna Partylist Rep. Neri Colmenares blames the threat of President Rodrigo Duterte against the opposition and critics of his administration, on the death of Human Rights lawyer Atty. Ben Ramos.
In an interview with DZRH, Colmenares said that aside from the posters of alleged communists being distributed by the Philippine National Police, the President’s “red tagging” also played a vital role in the killing of Ramos.
Colmenares insisted that it is not right for the government to tag human rights lawyers like Ramos, who are just doing their job to help the rebels with their cases.
As a lawyer, President Duterte should know that you cannot criticize a lawyer because of the clients he is associated with or the cases he handles.
Ramos was shot dead while having a smoke in front of a convenience store. He was also known for his pro-bono cases including the Sagay 9 massacre where in nine farmers were killed in Sagay, Negros Occidental.
