Former Pangasinan congressman escapes attempted ambush

Former governor and congressman Amado Espino Jr. survived an ambush on Wednesday, Sept. 11, in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

Per reports, unidentified armed assailants opened fire at the black Toyoto Innova carrying the former lawmaker at 4:30PM in Brgy. Magtaking, San Carlos City.

Espino was taken to the Holy Blessed Family Hospital in San Carlos City in order to receive medical treatment for his gunshot wounds in the arm and in the stomach.

At least two of his body guards were killed after they used their bodies to shield Espino. His driver was also shot and is currently in critical condition.

Latest report say that the suspected get-away vehicle of the suspects was spotted in Brgy. Cubol, San Carlos City.

Pangasinan – Philippine National Police have already launched a dragnet operation in order to capture and identify the perpetrators.
