Flights cancelled due to Tacloban City Airport emergency closure

The Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City had to do an emergency closure cancelling six flights in the process.

Aside from the cancelled flight, two airplanes of Air Asia and Cebu Pacific have been grounded because of the repairs they have to do with hole in the runway.

According to Erick Apolonio, spokesman of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, the said airplanes landed on a soft spot of the runway.  The runway was made of asphalt in it is slowly melting due to intense heat.

It is dangerous for some of the asphalts to end up in the airplane because they can damage it which may result to unwanted accidents.

Here is the list of cancelled flights as they fix the airport in Tacloban:

PAL Express        Manila-Tacloban (return flight)

Cebu Pacific        Manila-Tacloban

Cebu Pacific        Cebu-Tacloban

Air Asia                 Manila-Tacloban (return flight)

Operations is expected to resume by tomorrow morning.   (with DZRH Sherwin Bata Alfaro)
