Some airline companies have already canceled their flights to and from Hongkong today, Aug. 12.
The protesters have taken over the Hongkong International Airport.
Cebu Pacific already issued its list of flights affected by the temporary closure of the said airport:
5J 114 (Manila-Hong Kong) ETD 6:05pm
5J 115 (Hong Kong-Manila) ETD 10:05pm
5J 120 (Clark-Hong Kong) ETD 7:20pm
5J 121 (Hong Kong-Clark) ETD 10:30pm
However, the management of the airline company vowed to provide assistance to affected passengers.
The Philippine Airlines, meanwhile said that they have also canceled their Hongkong flights because of the on-going tension in Hongkong.
All passengers who are affected by this event are advised to contact PAL’s hotline: (+632) 855-8888 for further information.
The tension in Hongkong stemmed from a new bill wherein they will allow extradition to China. Many Hongkongers insist their autonomy to China as part of the principle “one country, two systems” when the British turned over their country to the mainland in 1997.
However, with the impending passage of the Extradition bill, most people in Hongkong are worried that they will become just another city from China and will not be able to enjoy their freedom.
