Filipino spikers finishes third in Thai Open through comeback win

The Philippine national men’s volleyball team salvaged a third place finish in the 2019 Thailand Open Sealect Tuna Volleyball Championships.

Philippines beat Saraburi Thai-Denmark in five sets, 22-25, 27-29, 25-18, 25-18, 26-24, during the bronze medal match on Tuesday, July 9, at Wee Sommay Gymnasium in Sisakaet, Thailand.

Marck Espejo scored 35 points and Bryan Bagunas added 24 points for the Filipino Spikers to seize a comeback victory after losing the first two sets.

Ranran Abdilla also had 19 points and Kim Malabunga registered 12 points for the national team.

The Philippine team, previously, lost to Thai Army during the semifinals on Monday, July 8, which pushed them out of contention for the gold medal.

Meanwhile, The women’s national team of the Philippines made an early exit in the tournament after losing all their three games in the group stage.
