Filipino boxing idol Manny Pacquiao will be returning to the ring on June 24 in order to face Argentinian boxing champion Lucas Matthysse.
In a statement, Aquiles Zonio, media relations officer of Pacquiao, confirmed that the fight will happen in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and will be handled by MP Promotions, owned by the Filipino fighting-senator, and Golden Boy Promotions.
The Filipino fighter is also set to fly to Kuala Lumpur on March 22 in order to formally launch his fight against Matthyse, who currently holds the WBA (regular) welterweight belt.
This will be followed by trips to Beijing, Tokyo, Macau, Hong Kong and other Asian cities in order to further promote the fight.
Previously, it was reported that Pacquiao has refused the offer to face American fighter Mike Alvarado in an under-card match that will be top billed by the fight between undefeated Australian champion Jeff Horn and undefeated American boxer Terence Crawford.
Horn currently holds the WBO Welterweight belt after beating Pacquiao via unanimous decision last July 2017 at a fight in Brisbane, Australia.
