Falcons pip Fighting Maroons; Bulldogs bite Eagles

Adamson University and National U started their UAAP season with a bang with separate wins against different foes in the second day of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the MOA Arena.

Jericho Cruz this early proved to be a gem for the Falcons as he scored 19 points, while Ingrid Sewa added 15 points and 10 rebounds even as the other Falcons played solid for the team that dedicated the win for Ryan Monteclaro’s mother who passed away last week.

The Falcons were up early, 18-13 and started to step on the gas pedal as the lead started to swell in the second quarter.

Former La Salle Green Archer Sam Marata had a game-high 20 points while Raul Soyud and Henri Asilum added 10 each for the Maroons.

In the second game, National U trampled on the undermanned Ateneo Blue Eagles with a rousing 64-64 victory.
