An election lawyer warned candidates to avoid using government issued vehicles for their campaigning.
According to Atty. Romulo Macalintal, the use of government cars for a partisan political activity may be considered as using government funds of properties.
Macalintal clarifies that if a candidates may face disqualification if proven guilty of such violation.
Under the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Fair Elections Act, vehicles with government license plates are prohibited from being used for campaigning purposes.
Prior to this, there have been pictures circulating in social media wherein known candidates are using government cars while campaigning.
