The world may be experiencing food crisis due to the effects of the El Nino phenomenon, just like what happened in 2007-2008.

The said warning came from the International Rice Research Institute.

Based on their analysis, food crisis is imminent due to the fall of production and abnormality of weather during harvest season in rice-producing countries.

IRRI announced that based on the estimation of the Food and Agriculture Organization, 25 countries, including the Philippines, will be placed on high priority amid the intense damage caused by El Nino.
