Truly the pioneer in AM radio, DZRH, on its 74th year anniversary decided to celebrate it with Senior Citizens ages 74 years old.
The event, aptly titled “74th with the 74s”, was held at the Pasay City Sports Complex in cooperation with the Office of the Seniors Affairs of Pasay City.
It was actually a feeding program, but the oldies were treated with much more than just food. Hosts from the DZRH team and Operation Tulong entertained the Senior Citizens with fun games, singing and some dancing.
During the Introduction, Normita Castillo, head of the Office of the Senior Affairs said that they’re grateful that institutions like the DZRH continue to provide help to the poor and the elderly.
Castillo encouraged her fellow Seniors to participate and be active in projects of their local government as well.
Pasay City Mayor Antonio Calixto made an appearance to the delight of the crowd. The Mayor also took this opportunity to thank his constituents for giving him another term to serve them.
Also present was Engr. Alberto Paredes, the city’s Chief of Staff. Paredes was candid when he mentioned that like our senior guests, he too was familiar with the programs of DZRH. His fond memories of “Tia Dely”, a well-known DZRH talent.
The Senior Citizen’s program was spearheaded by DZRH Operation Tulong.
Operation Tulong was created in 1975 for the sole purpose of providing immediate public service.
DZRH’s 74th anniversary celebration continues today with a nationwide medical mission, and tomorrow, the 3rd Manila Bay Clean Up Fun Run will take place.
The event will start at 4 in the morning, in front of the Manila Broadcasting Company Building in Pasay City. (Rita Salonga)
