Incoming President Rodrigo Duterte said that he is in favor of death by hanging as punishment for criminals.
In a meeting with some lawmakers on Wednesday, Duterte said that he will be pushing for the reinstating of the death penalty.
According to the president-elect, criminals are no longer afraid of lethal injection because this will only put them to sleep.
However, if these lawless individuals will see someone getting executed by hanging, wherein they are fighting for their last breathe, this will be a different scenario.
In 2006, former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo nixed the death penalty in the country.
