DOLE seeks aid from NBI to probe irregularities at POEA

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has sought the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the suspected irregularities at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, who particularly requested the aid of the NBI, said that a thorough investigation is currently set into place to uncover the employees who may be linked to the illegal activities at the POEA.

Bello added that he already has the list of suspected POEA personnel who are conspiring with illegal recruiters. He, however, refused to divulge their identities.

Bello emphasized that those proven to be guilty would be either suspended, reshuffled, or removed.

Previously, DOLE suspended the processing of the overseas employment certificates (OECs) for 15 days as the investigation on alleged illegal recruitment activities at the POEA took place.
