DOLE reminds employers of 13th month pay for employees


The Department of Labor and Employment issued a reminder to all employers to give the 13th month pay of their employees not later than December 24 or the day before Christmas.

In a statement issued by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, all rank and file employees should receive their 13th month pay, whatever work they render, as long as they performed for at least a month within the year.

Bello insisted that a good labor-management relations will increase productivity and competitiveness to the employees.

The 13th month pay is equivalent to 1/12 of the basic salary of an employee in a year.
