The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to conduct an investigation if the bus company that owns the unit involved in an accident in Tanay, Rizal that killed 15 students last Monday followed the occupational safety and health standards.
DOLE Sec. Silvestre Bello made the step as he extended sympathy to the families of the students who were supposed to graduate this March.
The DOLE Secretary said that he tasked DOLE Regional Office IV-A Director Zenaida Campita to investigate the incident to determine the liability of the owner of the Panda Coach Tourist and Transport Inc.
Bello vowed to the bereaved families that the agency will do its duty for the victims of said tragedy.
The agency will also determine if the bus company has strictly implemented the Occupational Safety and Health Standards.
Bello added that employees of said tour and Bus Company will receive assistance and benefits under the program of Employees Compensation Commission (ECC).
