After the sudden siege staged by the Islamic State-inspired Maute and Abu Sayyaf terrorist last May 23, 2017 in Marawi city, the Department of Health was quick to form a special awards committee to swiftly supply medical equipment’s to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police.
Since the Marawi city attack the government side has suffered 97 fatalities. A number of 405 terrorists were killed and 45 civilians lives sadly taken away.
Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte criticized the slow process of aiding to the AFP who were sturdily battling with the rebels.
According to Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial, in time of great emergencies there is not second to lose. The Emergency Procurement will serve the AFP, PNP, and other military personnel.
