Interior and Local Government Sec. Martin Dino apologized to some congressmen whom he accused of meddling in the recently concluded barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
In a forum in Quezon City, Dino asked for forgiveness if his statements caused distress to some lawmakers.
This was Dino’s reply after Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu challenged the DILG Sec. to present evidence amid his accusations.
Batangas Cong. Abu during his privilege speech in Congress challenged Dino to name the 100 or almost a third of the solons who allegedly paid voters in favor of their candidates.
Dino mentioned in a previous speech that concerned citizens from different regions in the country informed him of the alleged vote-buying in their areas.
To put an end to this, Dino is asking Congress to create a stricter law that will prohibit asking favors from high-ranking officials in the country.
