The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) cautioned Filipinos from travelling to the Northeast African country Sudan.

In a travel advisory on Tuesday, June 11, the DFA warned the public of ‘the ongoing civil unrest that has resulted in violence, disruption in communications, cancellation of flights, and restriction of movements within Khartoum and around Sudan’.

For two days, various groups have joined a nationwide civil disobedience in Sudan following the deportation of three leaders of the rebel group People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) from Khartoum, the country’s capital.

The dispersal of a sit-in protest last week also resulted to the deaths of at least 61 individuals according to the government. However, the opposition said that 118 people died during the incident.
