The Department of Education announced that Vigan City, Ilocos Sur is ready for the 2018 Palarong Pambansa that will start on April 15 and will last until April 21
According to DepEd Usec. Tonisitio Umali, Vigan City has already shown its readiness for a big multi-sports event when it hosted the regional qualifier of the 2017 Batang Pinoy.
The DepEd official said that after doing a final inspection of the city’s preparation for the Palarong Pambansa, there is no doubt that the facilities are of international standards.
About 12,000 student-athletes from differenl regions in the Philippines are expected to participate in 21 sports events for the high-school level, and 15 for the elementary level.
Meanwhile, Umali also revealed that the local government unit of Vigan City will be providing buses for athletes coming from Mindanao and the Visayas that will be brAqinging them to the city for the week-long sports competition.
The DepEd official also said that they will observe the practice of only having indoor sports events from 10:0Am to 3:00PM due to the summer season.
