Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol on Friday assured farm workers that the effect of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) will be minimal.
In an interview with DZRH, Piñol said that despite the increase in several goods and commodities the effect of TRAIN would be more beneficial rather than detrimental.
“Mas lamang yung ating benipisyo sa TRAIN kesa yung pagtaas ng ibang mga presyo,” he said.
According to Piñol, other than the increase in the price of fuels, farmers would not be greatly affected by the price surges of other products.
The DA Secretary also emphasized that due to the implementation of TRAIN, farmers will also benefit given that it could provide over 2,000 irrigation systems for farmlands and 30,000 farmed market roads.
“Ang TRAIN ay maaring gamitin upang makapagpagawa ng mahigit 30,000 farmed market roads at 2,000 irrigation sa mahigit 2,000 mga palayan – ito yung mga counter benefit,” he added.
Piñol is currently headed to Lake Mainit, Surigao del Norte to turnover 75 boats to fisherfolks and give assistance farmers amounting to some Php 5 million.
