Customs seizes PhP40M worth of smuggled Thai rice, sugar

Members of the Bureau of Customs confiscated tons of smuggled sugar and rice from the Manila International Container Port.

According to Customs Deputy Commissioner For Intelligence Jessie Dellosa, the said confiscated goods amount to 40 million pesos, which include 13 thousand sacks of imported thai sugar and 3,200 sacks of thai rice.

the said confiscated goods were under the name of Rainbow Holdings Inc., which were declared as “bitumen,” an oil-based substance used in creating roads and roofs.

the cargo arrived at the MICP on board 26 container vans, from July 16 to 22.
