Customs seizes Php 40 million worth of shabu from a Filipina at NAIA

Authorities caught a Filipina on Friday, Nov. 8, in possession of Php 40 million worth of crystallized methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.

The Bureau of Customs (BoC) identified the suspect as Marie Guillermo Ruzol who arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 via flight 5J258 from Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The BoC said that an x-ray scan of the backpack owned by Ruzol ‘yielded images of suspected dangerous drugs‘.

Customs personnel discovered white crystalline substances inside two handbags in the backpack and further concealed in a tea foil pack after conducting a 100 percent physical examination of the baggage

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency currently has custody of narcotics and Ruzol who face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
