The investigation on the alleged extortion of some officials from the Department of Transportation and Communications against a Czech company who’s interested in selling train units for the Metro Rail Transit has been formally requested at the House of Congress.
BAYAN MUNA Represenatives’ Neri Colmenares and Carlos Zarate filed House Resolution 112 at the House Committees on Transportation and Good Government and Public Accountability.
Prior to this, Czech Ambassador Josef Rychtar blurted that some officials from the DOTC asked for 30 Million dollars from the Inekon Group so that the latter can be awarded the contract of the MRT project but later on were “blacklisted” when they refused to give in with their demands.
Colmenares said that it would be better if there would be an independent investigation to know what really happened in that anomalous transaction and punish those officials if proven guilty.
However, the Lawmaker also considered the possibility of inviting during the hearing Presidential sister Balsy Aquino-Cruz in case the Czech Ambassador mentions her name.
