Winning candidates in the recently concluded midterm elections are advised not to celebrate just yet.

According to Commission on Elections Spokesman James Jimenez, a candidate with a pending disqualification case, even after being proclaimed, may still be removed from his post if proven guilty.

Jimenez added that a win will not mean that the case against the candidate will be dismissed.

The COMELEC official said that their investigation will continue on the disqualification cases filed against some candidates after they are done with the vote counting.

Meanwhile, if the result of the investigation is against the candidate, the case can still be appealed at the COMELEC En Banc and or the Supreme Court.

  1. If the winning candidate has a pending case in comelec, and proven guilty… who shall replace in his/her position?

  2. Yeah right. Like Robredo?
