Jung Yonghwa, the main singer of South Korean popular group CN Blue shocked his fans as news broke out that he will be enlisting in the military soon.
The news was then confirmed by his management, FNC Entertainment, apologizing to fans for the sudden decision.
Yonghwa is currently embroiled in a controversy, questioning his acceptance at a prestigious graduate school in Seoul.
Based on reports, Yonghwa allegedly received special treatment as he was denied acceptance in 2016 during his initial interview. He then re-applied and got in, after the professor made a visit to his agency’s office and conducted the second interview.
According to FNC management, they weren’t aware that it was prohibited to conduct interviews outside the university and that Yonghwa only followed the orders of his management and he had no idea that he was doing anything wrong.
FNC added that they were in-charged of fixing all their talent’s documents including setting up the appointment for the interview.
FNC also apologized for not giving the fans enough time to say goodbye and spend more time with their idol. Some CN Blue schedules have already been canceled following Yonghwa’s sudden enlistment.
Yonghwa will have his final fan meet this coming Mar 2 and 3, before enlisting on Mar.5
Manila was CN Blue’s last stop for their CN Blue’s Between Us Tour, which was held in October at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
