The Philippine National Boy’s Basketball team, also known as Batang Gilas, finished in fourth place at the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championships in Thailand.

Batang Gilas failed to secure a podium finish after suffering their second straight loss in the hands of a vengeful Chinese team, 76-57.

Quanze Wang contributed 27 points and 14 rebounds for the victory of the Chinese basketball team that avenged their 73-63 loss against the Philippines during the preliminary round.

The Philippine team scored the first four points of the game but a 12-point run allowed the Chinese team to grab the lead, 12-4, and made way for them to finish the first quarter with a 13-point advantage, 27-14.

Kai Sotto scored 16 points for the Philippine team who trailed behind by 23 points at most during the game.

Meanwhile, the undefeated Australian team was declared champions of the FIBA Under-18 Championships after besting New Zealand, 72-63, during the finals game.
