Checkpoints up in Metro


The Commission on Elections will erect checkpoints in six areas of Metro Manila coinciding with the start of the gun ban on Saturday, 12:01 a.m.

Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. said that the checkpoints are for tighter security for the barangay election period that will start on Saturday, September 28 and will end on November 12.

Commissioner Grace Padaca identified the areas of checkpoint as Navotas-Malabon area; Monumento, Caloocan City; Trinoma North Avenue, Quezon City; Pasig-Ortigas area; Kalayaan Makati; Fort Bonifacio; Pasay City and ParaƱaque Airport Road.

Meanwhile, the Comelec has issued a resolution for persons asked for request of gun ban exemption will still be recognized by the Comelec until the barangay elections. Judie Anne Abejero
