The Cultural Center of the Philippines held a ground breaking ceremony for its new Black Box theater on January 19, 2016 at the Sunken Parking lot, CCP Complex, Pasay City.

The said ceremony marks the start of the theater’s construction.

According to Leandro V. Locsin Partners (LVLP) Administrator Andy Locsin, there were so many frustrations before coming up with the project but it is an honor that the construction of the new theater is finally pushing through.

CCP Vice President-Artistic Director Chris Millado proudly announced that the Black box Theater will be an exciting place of new works and platforms of innovation in Asia.

The construction of the said theater aims to be a place for the next generation, where history will live to enrich the Filipino culture and empower the community and nation.

The CCP board of members expressed gratitude to the theater arts patron Ignacio Gimenez and brother Roberto Olanday with the support and administrative assistance of the Locsin Partners.
