The Catholic Church is encouraging Filipinos to pray for the Senators as they start discussing the Death Penalty bill.

In a pastoral statement of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, the Catholic Church states that they are offering prayers to the Senators so that the Lord will guide their conscience and help them abolish the proposed death penalty bill.

The CBCP reaffirms its call to the government to respect life and stand firm against the reinstatement of the death penalty.

Prior to this, the Lower House already approved House Bill 4727, which aims to bring back the capital punishment in the country for drug-related crimes.
