Filipino Boxing Champion Jerwin Ancajas has finally met his idol and fellow Davaoeño President Rodrigo Duterte.
The meeting happened during the reigning International Basketball Federation Junior Bantamweight Champion’s courtesy call in Malacañang on December 6.
According to Joven Jimenez, trainer and manager of Ancajas, the boxer from Davao was super excited to meet the President, who promised to assist the Filipino boxing champion in his needs.
Games and Amusement Board chairman Baham Mitra set Ancajas’ visit to the Malacañang after the boxing champion defended his title from Irish Boxer Jamie Conlan last November.
The bout was Ancajas’ third title defense after winning the IBF Junior Bantamweight belt from Mcjoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico last 2016.
