The Meralco Bolts defeated Brgy. Ginebra, 104-102, to tie the PBA Governors Cup Finals series on Friday, Jan. 10, at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena.
Allen Durham had 21 points and 18 rebounds while Baser Amer and Chris Newsome each scored 17 points for the Bolts who set a new PBA finals records by making 16 three-pointers during Game Two.
Meralco widened the score 31-19 in the first quarter following a 10-point scoring run that was capped off by back-to-back three pointers from Nards Pinto.
Ginebra trailed behind by 19 points at most, 61-42, but managed to recover in the second half and tie the score, 70-all, in the third period.
Amer hit a three pointer with 2:13 left in the game to bring the lead of the Bolts back to double-digits, 101-91, but Justin Brownlee responded with his own long-range shot to keep Ginebra alive in the game.
With three seconds left in the game, LA Tenorio managed to reduce the point gap down to two points but Ginebra failed to take the ball from the Bolts who waited for the final buzzer to sound.
Brownlee finished with 35 points and 11 rebounds while Stanley Pringle registered 23 points and 10 rebounds for Ginebra.
The Bolts will try to take the lead in the Finals Series when they face Ginebra again on Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
