BoC seizes Php 55 million worth of fake, smuggled products in Tondo warehouse

The Bureau of Customs (BoC) confiscated Php 55 million worth of fake and smuggled products during a raid at a warehouse in Antonio Rivera St., Tondo, Manila on July 25.

Among the seized goods are 120 boxes of cigarettes with fake labels, three DVD replicationg machines, 300 boxes of blank DVDs, and cellphone chargers.

The BoC – Enforcement and Security Service estimates the confiscated DVD replicating machines to be worth Php 45 million, while the seized cigarettes and other products are worth Php 10 million.

The warehouse is owned by a certain Sonny Co and Tito Yao, who were not in the area when the raid was conducted.

The fake items will undergo seizure and forfeiture proceedings for violation of Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, and other pertinent provisions of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
