Alab Pilipinas star Bobby Ray Parks Jr. has secured his second straight Local Most Valuable Player award in the ASEAN Basketball League, beating Lee Ki of the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions and Delvin Goh of the Singapore Slingers.
The Alab sophomore secured his second individual award in the ABL after averaging 15.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Alab’s Puerto Rican import Renaldo Balkman averaged 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.9 blocks in order to seize the Defensive Player of the Year, alongside Chris Charles of the Slingers.
Balkman was also in the running for the World Import Most Valuable Player Award but fell short to Anthony Tucker of the Chong Son Kung Fu, who averaged 22.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists.
Filipino – American Mikh McKinney, who’s playing for the Kung Fu, took home the Heritage Import Award after averaging 22.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1.6 steals.
While, the Chinese basketball team’s Canadian coach Charles Dubé-Brais was named Coach of the Year after leading Kung Fu to a win-loss record of 15-5 in their maiden stint.
