The San Miguel Beermen has taken the lead in the best-of-seven finals series of the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
During Wednesday’s Game-3 at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, the Beermen took home their second win in the series after defeating Brgy. Ginebra with a score of 132-94.
Renaldo Balkman finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds, and June Mar Fajardo registered 22 points and 15 rebounds in order to lead the Beermen, who secured a 40 point lead in the final seconds of the game.
Chris Ross also added 23 points for the victory of the defending champions.
After ending the first half with a two-point lead, 53-51, the Beermen immediately asserted their dominance in the third quarter by scoring seven straight points to secure an 11-point advantage, 62-51.
From there on, Ginebra had difficulties recovering as they fell behind by 20 points, 92-72, in the end of the period.
Justin Brownlee provided a game-high 32 points, along with 11 rebounds but it was not enough to prevent another loop-sided defeat of Ginebra, even after the team led seven points at most, 27-14, in the first quarter.
Game 4 will be this coming Friday, August 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
