Commission on Elections chairman Andres Bautista failed to attend the latest House hearing on the proposed postponement of the 2017 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

During a press conference,  CIBAC party-list rep. Sherwin Tugna, Chairman of the House Suffrage and Electoral Reforms Committee confirmed that the COMELEC chairman sought permission to skip the said hearing because he will be at a public hearing in Davao.

Tugna added that Bautista chose to attend the Davao hearing on Tuesday to give clarification on the elections to be held amid the implementing Martial law in Mindanao.

Aside from the Brgy and SK elections issue, the lower house could also be asking Bautista on the controversy concerning his alleged ill-gotten wealth.
