The Philippine National Boy’s Basketball team, also known as Batang Gilas, finished 13th place in the recently concluded 2018 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Under-17 World Cup in Argentina.
Previously, the Philippines finished 15th place in the tournament in 2014.
Kai Sotto registered 22 points and 10 rebounds in order to lead the Philippine team to victory, 73-51, against New Zealand, who finished in 14th place in the tournament that was participated by 16 countries.
While, Mitchell Dance finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for New Zealand who led by two points, 0-2, in the first minutes of the game before Gilas asserted their dominion and widened the score gap to 24 points, 52-28.
Meanwhile, United States of America secured their fifth consecutive championship in the FIBA Under-17 World after beating France, 95-52.
