Former Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Francisco Baraan III strongly denied the accusation of President Rodrigo Duterte that he is involved in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prisons.
In an official statement, Baraan said that he could not imagine himself being involved in illegal drugs.
Baraan stressed that his Christian values serve as his anchor and that he hopes that the truth will soon prevail.
Prior to this, Duterte alleged that Sen. Leila De Lima and one of her friends, a governor and a former undersecretary, are part of the “drug matrix” — an informal organizational chart showing narco politicians involved in the illegal drug trade inside the national penitentiary.
Duterte then later identified Justice Usec. Baraan by name.
