Banning of soft drinks, soda in schools supported by DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) has supported the proposal to ban the selling of sodas and soft drinks in schools.

DOH Sec. Paulyn Ubial, said it is a great chance to oblige schools to provide only healthy drinks to students.

Last 2007 the Department of Education (DepEd) issued a memorandum in all public schools to prohibit carbonated drinks.

The step aims to let students avoid illness caused by artificially flavored juices.

However, school canteens continue to sell mentioned drinks despite the directive from the DepEd.
