The Philippine Azkals won their first game in the qualifying tournament of the upcoming Asian Football Confederation Cup.
During their game last March 28 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, Azkals defeated the National Football Team of Nepal with a score of 4-1.
Veteran Azkal Phil Younghusband set the mood of the team by giving their first two goals. Iain Ramsay and Javier Patino gave one point each for the Philippine National Football Team.
Even though the team won the game, Azkals Coach Thomas Dooley is still disappointed with the results. Dooley insists that the Azkals could have stopped Bishal Rai who gave the only goal of Nepal.
The American coach further added that, in order to win the qualifying tournament, the team should ensure that their opponents won’t score even a single goal.
Azkals would face next the National Football team of Tajikistan this coming June 13. The winner of the qualifying tournament would play at the 17th AFC Cup this 2019 in United Arab Emirates.
