The Bureau of Immigration stopped an Australian professor and activist at the Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
According to Immigration spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval, Gill Hale Boehringer arrived at the airport on Wednesday evening from Guanhzhou,China and was prevented from entering the Philippines because of an existing order barring him from entering the country since since 2017.
“He was excluded for being blacklisted,” Sandoval said.
Boehringer allegedly joined a rally in November 2015 and violated ‘the BI Operations Order prohibiting foreigners in engaging in political activities in the Philippines’.
Sandoval explained that foreigners participating in rallies may be blacklisted in the interest of public safety.
Last July, the BI ordered the deportation of Sister Patricia Fox to Australia and ordered her inclusion in the agency’s blacklist due to her alleged participation in political rallies in the Philippines.
