Seven Senior Officers of the Philippine Army were donned their new star rank in a simple ceremony at the Philippine Army Officers Club House here, on Monday, August 1.
Lt. Gen. Eduardo M Año, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, led the donning of ranks to the new sets of senior officers who have diligently earned their first and second stars.
Brigadier Generals Edgar F Gonzales and Harold N Cabreros were promoted to Major General.
Maj. Gen. Gonzales is the Commander of the Mechanized Infantry Division, while Maj. Gen. Cabreros is the Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division.
Colonels Alexander L Macario, Commander of the Light Reaction Regiment, Special Operations Command; Casiano C Monilla, Assistant Division Commander of the 10th Infantry Division; Ronald C Villanueva, Commander of the 1002ndInfantry Brigade; Cesar M Idio, Assistant Division Commander of the 8th Infantry Division; and Rolando Joselito D Bautista, Commander of the Presidential Security Group, on the other hand, received their first star.
“Bearing a star on one’s soldier symbolizes the pennant of a fruitful military career after overcoming bumps and obstacles along the way. Your new rank testifies to the trust and confidence of the command in your ability to manage greater responsibilities befitting the stars on your shoulder,” said Año.
Año also reminded the newly-promoted generals of the Army’s major thrusts and priority tasks, “I count on you to exert efforts in sustaining our operational readiness at the highest level possible. We must not forget that our core competency remains to be warfigting. In the same manner, let us also support the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in upholding law and order and contributing to the country’s relentless campaign against illegal drugs and all forms of criminality,” Ano added.
