Anti-trust bill continues to prosper in the lower house

The Anti-Trust Bill continues to move as it made it pass through second reading in Congress.

The Philippine Competition Act aims to put a stop on monopoly and protect consumers and the economy from unfair business competition.

Under the said bill, there will be a National Competition Policy so that free competition will rule and trade will be regulated.

The said bill was authored by House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte and is one of the priority measures in both the houses in Congress.

Davao Del Norte Cong. Anthony Del Rosario, Vice Chair of the Committee on Trade and Industry, defended the proposed bill until it got approved amid the amendments by some fellow solons.

The bill is expected to be approved on its third and final reading next week.  After then, it will go through the Bicameral Conference Committee before the end of May.  (with DZRH Leth Narciso-Abinales)
