Alvarez threatens to dismiss PDP members involved in Dengvaxia controversy

The Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) vows to dismiss its members who are caught in the controversial scandal of Dengvaxia, the anti-dengue vaccine used by the government in its anti-dengue program.

This was the statement of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez in an exclusive interview with DZRH in connection with the said dengue vaccine that allegedly posts more danger to those who haven’t been infected by the said virus in the past.

According to Alvarez, members of the ruling party will have to face the consequence if they are proven to be guilty or have taken part in the Dengvaxia scandal which was implemented during the administration of then-President Benigno Aquino.

“Yung may gawa niyan ay sigurado ‘tigbak-sya’, hindi na Dengvazia yun, tigbak-sya na,” Alvarez quipped.

According to the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccine Dengvaxia, which was meant to repeal dengue on areas prone to the illness, was proven to be risky to the health of the receivers who have not yet acquired the infection.

On Monday, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II ordered the investigation of the dengue vaccination program of the Department of Health after it supposedly put the lives over 730,000 public school children in harm’s way.
