One of the government agencies involved in the rehabilitation of Boracay has made a stern warning against establishments who will not follow President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to close down the said island for six months.
In an exclusive interview with DZRH, Tourism Asst. Sec. Ricky Alegre said that establishments who will go against the government’s plan to rehabilitate the island will be facing immediate closure.
Tourists and visitors will be temporarily banned from entering Caticlan. Only residents will be allowed in the said island.
Boracay will undergo rehabilitation after the President called it a cesspool because of its many environmental violations, including the lack of enough sewage systems.
Now that the president has ordered its temporary closure, Alegre insisted that they will have the chance to right their wrongs and the island will be able to take a break as one of the tourist destinations in the world.
