Alab Pilipinas survives Vampires in overtime

Alab Pilipinas seized a 110-100 win over the Mono Vampires on Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Sta Rosa Multipurpose Complex in Laguna in a game that reached overtime.

Renaldo Balkman scored 38 points to lead the Philippine squad who were trailing behind by 13 points, 58-45, in the game.

With less than a minute left in the game, Balkman put the home team back up by one, 86-85, but Malcolm White of the Vampires hit the last of his two free throws after being fouled by Alab’s Ethan Alvano to force the game to an extra period.

The defending champions scored back to back baskets to immediately assert their dominance over the Vampires who lost White after he got fouled out of the court at the start of the overtime period.

Currently, Alab Pilipinas remains at the top of the standings in the ninth season of the ASEAN Basketball League with eight wins and two losses. While, the Vampires dropped to their 10th loss out of 12 games.
