Alab Pilipinas started their campaign to defend their ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) title with a 94-67 rout of CLS Knights Indonesia at the Sta Rosa Multi Purpose Complex in Laguna on Sunday, Dec. 09.
Renaldo Balkman, who led the Philippine team, came out strong with 33 points and 11 rebounds. This is the Philippine team’s first win in the ninth season of the said basketball tournament.
PJ Ramos also contributed 20 points and 13 rebounds while reigning ABL Local Most Valuable Player Bobby Ray Parks Jr. scored 10 points for the defending champions, The team led as much as 31 points, 94-63.
Maxie Esho registered 20 points and Stephen Hurt added 19 points for the Indonesian team who were already trailing by 19 points, 46-27, at the end of the first half.
Alab Pilipinas will once again face the Knights on Sunday, Dec. 16, but this time at the latter’s home court: the GOR Kertajaya Surabaya in East Java, Indonesia.
