On Thursday, Bb. Pilipinas organized an official send-off party for bb. Pilipinas-International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo as she goes for heights in clinching the 7th crown for the country in Japan.
“Rest assured that I prepared for this journey, I took a month off after winning but after that, I started preparing in every possible way that I can,” she said during her send-off at Novotel in Araneta Center Cubao.
The former Reyna ng Aliwan Queen also assured the public that she will make the Philippines proud. Ahtisa also disclosed that she had mastered some basic Japanese greetings and phrases as the competition will take place in Tokyo. She said even started to add Japanese food in her diet to get her stomach used to the food that will be served to them throughout the pageant.
“I’m not going to go to Japan just to be the second best. I’m going to make the Philippines proud,” she added.
The 21-year-old beauty queen also gave some details on what she will wear for the evening gown and national costume competition
“My national costume is inspired by Subanon tribe from Mindanao. It’s by Amir Sali and my evening gown is by Micheal Cinco but he told me not to share anything pero it would be bongga,” she said.
From being a festival queen in her hometown in Quezon province, Manalo will be representing the country at the Tokyo Dome on November 9.
The Philippines has won Miss International six times: Gemma Cruz (1964), Aurora Pijuan (1970), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Santiago (2013) and Kylie Verszosa (2016).
