AFP revamp looms as 7 generals set to retire

A major demonstration in the leadership of the 125, 000 strong Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reveals the retirement of seven generals this year.

Among the seven generals is AFP chief of staff Gen Gregorio Pio Catapang who will reach the mandatory retirement age in July.

also, some three-star generals are retiring this year.

Deputy chief of staff Lt Gen Virgilio Domingo will retire on June 8, PN Chief Vice admiral Jesus Millan, August 10, Northern Luzon Command commander Lt Gen Felicito Trinidad, August 14, vice chief of staff Lt Gen John Bonafos, October 19, Eastern Mindanao Command chief Lt Gen Aurelio Baladad, October 19 and Western Mindanao Command commander Lt Gen Rustico Guerrero on November 24.

Prior to this,  the names of Philippine Army chief Lt Genhernando Ireberri and Philippine Airforce commander Lt Gen Jeffrey Delgado were mentioned as contenders to replace the AFP Chief.

Irreberi belongs to the Philippine Military Academy class of 1983 while Delgado is from PMA class of 1982.
